About Joppel

With more than 44 million people eligible for Medicare—and millions more reaching eligibility every year—the need for information about Medicare health plan options has never been greater. Joppel was founded in 2008 in response to this critical need.

Joppel’s founders, with over 65 years of combined experience, are a diverse group of experts in health care for Medicare beneficiaries, e-commerce, and website usability design. They understand that the process of choosing a Medicare plan can be confusing. They also recognize the growing importance of the Internet in helping consumers research their options. These experts created a proprietary online technology to simplify the process for Medicare beneficiaries and their caregivers. This online tool was named Joppel.

Joppel was quickly recognized for its innovation and technology. The Joppel.com website was designated as a 2009 Official Honoree in the Webby Awards, the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet, presented by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.

In 2010, Joppel became a part of HealthCompare, a division of The Word & Brown Companies, one of California’s largest insurance brokerages and one of the nation’s recognized leader in marketing, distributing and administering health benefit plans for companies and individuals.
